An exciting new collection of spelling activities for beginning readers. These programs teach children to recognise the most common words quickly, painlessly and with fun. In 1936 E. W. Dolch compiled a list of the most frequently used words in reading. This is the Dolch Word List of 220 words. Many of these words cannot be sounded out, so they need to be learnt as "sight words". Children who learn these words will have a sound base for beginnning reading.
It is estimated that the 25 most common words make up about 30% of what we read. And the 100 most common words make up about 50% of what we read.
Since Dolch's initial work, others have updated the list. One of these newer lists is known as Fry's Instant Words. The following activities will teach your children to read and recognise these words. They have been tested and proven for over a decade.
Each game contains 25 words. There are a number of important features incorporated into each game. You can choose the display font for the words. If for example, you are in Victoria you could choose Victorian Cursive font. Students can play the games at their own speed, no parents or teachers watching over their shoulders. A record is kept of every game played, the name of the player, dates, how many words correct, and how long it took for the player to progress through the words. You can also alter the 'flash time' for each word. To access these records and change the 'flash time' hold down the shift key while clicking the Spell Well icon.

These Flash card activities are available for both Macintosh, including OSX, and IBM compatible computers (PCs) running Windows, including XP, see the Spell Well Order Form. If we don't have the words you need Tell Us! at School Fonts we can probably make the list you want, (using your voice if you so choose).
Prices: A school Site License will be $30 per Spell Well game. For families, teachers and individuals the price will remain the same at $15 (Australian dollars). Other charges also apply for postage and handling per package, (GST not applicable, see notes below).
All Spell Well games are supplied on a CD. Please tell your friends and colleagues, but please be honest and ask them to contact us if they want a license to use the activties.
Spell Well games are not to be given away, sold, modified or used commercially without the written permission of School Fonts.

Before making a payment through Paypal you first need to set up a Paypal account. Next proceed to the Send Money tab to make a payment, identify School Fonts by entering our email address.
Using Paymate you can quickly make a payment with your credit card without setting up an account.
When ordering through Paypal or Paymate please make sure you include you name, address and details of the fonts you require, eg. SWThreeWin. We will then post the fonts to you.

3. If you are a school, child care centre, or business and need to pay on an invoice, please post or fax through your request with a purchase order number.
Notes: If it can be avoided please don't send orders unless accompanied by the full amount. Allow 14 days delivery (within Australia, longer for elsewhere) unless absolutely urgent.
